Meet Destin, an example of the student mentorship program’s success
Destin, of Buea, Cameroon is an inspiring entrepreneur who came into the mentorship program in a time of career transition. He went to school for biochemistry, but soon discovered a passion for IT, particularly in augmented reality, virtual reality (VR) and artificial intelligence (AI). Destin wasn’t sure how to get into this field given his prior experience and worried it might hold him back. Nevertheless, he dove headfirst into freelance IT and generated ideas for a startup. However, he still sought a mentor to hone the skills needed to bridge his transition from biochemistry to IT. His mentor, Guillaume Barry, an IT manager at Foundever, understood Destin’s unique situation and helped instill the confidence he needed to move forward with his dreams. Guillaume showed Destin that not only is he capable of succeeding in IT, but his past in biochemistry can be a valuable asset in his journey.
