One of the programs in which Foundever.org is participating is a student mentorship program through its partnership with the Global Mentorship Initiative (GMI) and Orange, a multinational telecommunications corporation. Foundever.org is proud to bring the #CXforGood movement to life through this program to provide students from distressed communities with guidance, support and access to valuable networks, helping them build confidence, develop skills and achieve their goals. This program was the first launched and funded by Foundever.org, and is a testament to our commitment to supporting real impactful causes such as helping young adult students from disadvantaged communities gain access to the job market, supporting young adult students in the development of their skills to meet the requirements of a highly competitive job market, and coaching young adult students in their career paths and open their horizons.
Meet Oumou and Afis, two examples of this program’s success
Coming into the program, Oumou, of Dakar, Senegal, and Afis, of Gbozounme, Benin, did not appear to be an obvious match. As a finance director, Oumou wasn’t sure what she could bring to the table for Afis, who was seeking advice about his field. However, as they delved into their sessions and got to know one another, Oumou called on her many years of experience to impart valuable insights to the business world in general. As well as helping Afis build his professional network to over 500 connections! In the process, Afis developed the ability to communicate confidently and take bold initiatives.
Oumou stepped out of her comfort zone and explored not only about a field outside of finance, but also learned from Afis how the African education system has changed for the better. While the mentorship was not what they expected, Oumou and Afis walked away with an enriching personal and professional experience.
“I am grateful to have had the opportunity to participate in this exceptional program that aims to promote professional and personal development through mentorship,” said Afis.
