If I think about the moments in my career that stayed with me the most, they are rarely the big announcements or the milestones we planned for months.
They are the quieter ones.
A conversation with a young student who suddenly realizes new possibilities.
A colleague who volunteers for the first time and comes back energized in a completely different way.
A story shared that resonates more deeply than we expected.
These are the moments that remind me why volunteering matters so much.
In our daily work, we move fast. We focus on performance, transformation, growth. We solve problems, make decisions, and navigate complexity. And while all of this is important, volunteering creates a different kind of space. One where we slow down just enough to connect, to listen, and to share.
And sometimes, that is exactly what someone needs.
Over the years, I have seen how powerful it can be when someone simply shares their journey, not a perfect story, but a real one. The challenges, the doubts, the unexpected turns. These are the stories that resonate most, especially with young people who are still trying to understand what their future might look like.
Because for many of them, opportunity does not always feel visible or accessible.
And confidence often starts with exposure.
When someone sees a path they had never imagined, something changes.
When they hear that success is not linear, that setbacks are part of the journey, they begin to believe that their own path is possible too.
This is why volunteering is so powerful. It is not about having all the answers. It is about being present, being authentic, and sharing experiences that might help someone else move forward.
What I find equally meaningful is how volunteering transforms those who take part. I have spoken with colleagues who tell me that after volunteering, they returned to their day-to-day work with a renewed sense of purpose. They felt more connected, not only to the communities we support, but also to each other.
Volunteering creates that kind of connection.
It reminds us that beyond roles and responsibilities, we are people supporting people.
It also reinforces something I strongly believe: leadership is not defined by hierarchy. It is defined by impact. And volunteering allows so many individuals, regardless of role or seniority, to step into that space and inspire others.
Today, this matters more than ever. We are living through a period of rapid change. Technology is transforming industries, and new skills are becoming essential. But as we move forward, we must ensure that opportunity moves forward with us and that no one is left behind.
Volunteering helps make that possible.
It helps young people build confidence, discover new paths, and feel that they belong in spaces they may never have considered before. And in doing so, it helps create a more inclusive and hopeful future.
What inspires me most is seeing how naturally this spirit emerges across our teams. Colleagues who raise their hand, who give their time, who share their stories, not because they have to, but because they genuinely want to make a difference.
These gestures may seem small.
But they create ripple effects we may never fully see.
Someone feels more confident.
Someone chooses a different path.
Someone believes in themselves just a little more.
And sometimes, that is enough to change everything.
At Foundever.org, volunteering is not just something we do. It reflects who we are: a community of people who care, who support, and who believe in creating opportunities for others.
Because in the end, the moments that stay with us are not always the biggest ones.
They are the human ones.
