One of the programs in which Foundever.org is participating is a women’s empowerment initiative in Egypt through its partnership with Carerha and the Freelance Mama program. Foundever.org is proud to bring the #CXforGood movement to life through this program to help female college graduates who had to stop working or never had the chance to start their career journeys due to a wide range of constraints and life events, including family obligations. The program provides women with training in graphic design, content creation, and virtual assistance/content moderation, setting them on a path for successful freelance careers.
Meet Raghda, a woman who believes in the potential of others
Raghda is a learning and development specialist at Foundever Egypt who volunteers her time to the Freelance Mama program as a Google Workspace and English language trainer. Raghda always believed that women could do great things when armed with skills, knowledge, and confidence, which drove her to get involved.
“I really do believe women can do anything once they set their minds on it… they have everything…they have the means to do it, they have the will to do it, they just have to want it and do the efforts. I am inspired by women in my life every day and these 34 women are even more inspiring.”
One of the success stories that Raghda recalls fondly is of a mother from the program who had great English entry exam scores, but it was clear her actual skills did not match in class. Over the course of the program, Raghda noticed marked improvement in the mother’s ability to form sentences and utilize new vocab. Raghda could sense a genuine curiosity and motivation to learn and improve. In the end, the mother scored well on the exit exam. At the graduation ceremony she admitted that the first result wasn’t real, and her son helped her. Thanks to Raghda she made true progress and developed the confidence to embrace her abilities and potential to achieve on her own.
While Raghda was able to make a difference in these mothers’ lives, they certainly had a positive and lasting impact on her, too. Having just gotten married and seeing these women fearlessly dive back into their studies with such motivation and excel at it, Ragdha realizes that anything is possible. If she ever had to step away from work for any reason that a comeback is more than obtainable. The ladies of Freelance Mama are living proof.
Additionally, having spent months with the mothers, Raghda developed an unbreakable bond with them. She knows everything about their lives from the kids, their relationships, and even their childhoods. “We’re best friends now.” Raghda nostalgically likened graduation day to the last day of school or work where everyone agrees to stay in touch and see each other all the time. She knows this is not the end of the journey; it’s just the beginning.
